Battle Flags - Heritage Victories

7/31/2015

What better way to start a newsletter than by showing a picture that will offend half our readers.

You've all seen the T-shirt, "If this flag offends you then you need a history lesson." Well if this picture offends you then you need a lesson in the realities of politics.

It was submitted by one of our readers, a physician and SCV member in Tennessee.

SOUTHERN BAPTISTS SHOWE TRMENDOUS SUPPORT FOR SOUTHERN HERITAGE

By that I mean the church members, not the denominational leaders.

We have received an overflow of encouraging emails this week. And since most of the SBC websites that posted our editorial allow for comments, the overwhelming number of comments this week have been in support of our ancestors and the cause for which they fought.

I am also going to bet that the majority of "Republicans" are OK with the Confederate Battle Flag too. Its just that their "party bosses" and the candidates who they vote into politicians are not. The rank and file of those who vite Republican would most likely stand up for the flag. So why do they keep voting for people who would raise the white flag when their culture is attacked?

The same could be said of Democrats.

There is such a thing as INTEGRITY. The Bible tells us to "Abstain from all appearance of evil" in I Thessalonians 5:22. And the lesser of two evils is STILL EVIL.

    HERITAGE VICTORIES

COLORADO - 32-year-old activist and blogger Patricia Cameron was ticketed for arson following a Confederate Flag Burning event that she held over the July 4 weekend.

MOBILE ALABAMA: The Confederate Flag will remain a fixture at the Government Plaza Courtyard, as well as on the emblems of Mobile County Sheriff's Office vehicles.

A motion by Commissioner Merceria Ludgood failed to receive the support of the other commissioners at their regular meeting on Monday.

The motion would have taken up two resolutions: one that would have removed the flag from the courtyard outside Government Plaza, and any other locations on Mobile County owned property, and one to remove the flag from Sheriff's Office vehicles.

Commissioner Connie Hudson said it's important to keep the flag in place because it's part of the state's history.

"I think the idea here is to respect the history of the area and certainly Alabama did secede from the Union and had to be re-admitted in 1968 so it was a part of the Confederate States of America and we can't ignore that fact," she said.

The interesting thing about this is that only FOUR people showed up to speak to the commissioner's meeting in favor of keeping the flag. Sometimes we do not speak up because we think we are two small in number. Sometimes it just takes a few sane voces to remind the "powers that be" who the real "crazies" are.

NATIONWIDE: The Huffington Post reported this week that there have been 132 "Pro Confederate Flag Rallies" since the Governor of South Carolina removed the flag. The Post also reports that another hundred or so are planned and / or in the works!
