Dr. Ed continues a conversation that began on today's TBR Radio Presents: The TBR History Hour with TBR Contributing Editor Harald Hesstvedt Scharnhorst to discuss his two articles on the subjects of Cowboys and Vigilantes in the American west that appeared in the January / February issue of The Barnes Review.
Dr. Ed talks about the playing of the National Anthem and other "propaganda" at sporting events.
Is this North Korea or Soviet Russia? Should athletes be made to "prove" their loyalty to the "glorious leader" or to the State before given the privilege of playing a game? Should the fans have to "Hail Caesar" before given the privilege of watching the sport?
Did you know the US government pays millions to the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc. to serve as propaganda agents for the military and various government agencies?
Would the whole problem of athletes taking a knee resolve itself if the Anthem were simply not played?
Oh, by the way did you know that the Anthem at sporting events was not common before WWII and our government got the idea from the NAZI's?
This episode will either have you shouting "AMEN" or it will make you very mad at the host!
Hopefully you'll at least laugh when Dr. Ed makes up words as he goes to the North Korean national anthem.
Longtime Dixie Heritage and Barnes Review subscriber Art Jones talks about his effort to seek the Republican nomination for the US House of Representatives seat for Illinois' 3rd Congressional District.
If he win's the Saint Patrick's Day primary this will be Art's 5th time to obtain the Republican nomination. Thats the easy part, the hard part is unseating a deeply entrenched Democrat incumbent.
The interview starts with Art talking about his Confederate ancestors and then conversation switches to Chicago politics and in particular the politics of race followed by efforts by leftists to kill harass, violently attack, and a few times even kill both Art and his wife.
To listen to the remainder of this conversation tune in to the Feb 14 episode of TBR History Hour.
Dr. Ed talks about the Southern Baptist Convention's "Diversity Initiative" and just how far the denominational bosses are willing to go to heavy-handidly impose it upon the churches.
The Convention's leadership has gone so far as to remove from membership every member of a mega-church in Florida who voted against calling a black pastoral candidate. The "leadership" also bullied all members of the church over the age of 80, telling them they were not allowed to vote. Teachers were fired from the Christian school and students expelled. When all of this failed to produce the desired result the members of the church were accused of being "racist" on a national platform.
NONE of the questions asked of the candidate were "racial" in nature. But he did fail to answer several theological questions in any capacity and others that he did attempt to answer he failed to answer to the congregations satisfaction. His deep involvement in Democrat party politics was also of concern to several members.
Will this be the new "norm" now that the SBC is being funded by George Soros?
Colonel Kennedy tries to explain how "political correctness" is destroying U.S. military preparedness.
Is Donald Trump saving the military? Or is he powerless to do so?
Dr. Ed updates us on the move and discusses his article "Baptist Bandits" that recently appeared in the January/February issue of The Barnes Review magazine.
The Jan/Feb issue of The Barnes Review magazine featured two articles by Dr. Ed.
In today's radio show he talks about one of the articles, whose subject, Lottie Moon, was a Confederate spy who, as a runaway bride, left Union General Ambrose Burnside at the marriage alter. After the war Lottie would spend four decades as a Southern Baptist missionary to China.
Dr. Ed explains how God used the War Between the States and Lottie's service to the Confederacy as the crucible that formed made her the great missionary who forever changed the way Baptists did missionary work.
He encourages Southern Baptists to stop apologizing for their history and heritage, and instead, to own and embrace it.
While most of us celebrated Christmas over a week and a half ago, Orthodox Christians still on the old (Julian) calendar will not celebrate the holiday until January 7th. Dr. Ed calls the blogger known as Dissident Mama, an outspoken practitioner of Orthodox Christianity, to find out what she and her family will be doing for the holiday.
Also discussed are hw Orthodoxy has embraced the cultures of the places it expands into and especially how Orthodoxy has embraced Southern culture. While orthodoxy is shrinking in many parts of the world it is growing and thriving in Dixie. Our guest explains why.
Also discussed are the differences between holiday celebrations in the South as opposed to in the North.
Its Christmas in Dixie on this week's special holiday edition of TBR Radio Presents: The Dixie Heritage Hour.
Grandma gets run over by Rudolf the "redneck" reindeer before Bo and Luke sing a few songs from their Christmas album: "Johnny Its Cold Outside," "Cool Yule," and "I'll Be Home for Christmas."
Dr. Ed shares an 18-minute message that he gave at last year's Christmas Eve service in Florida.
Dr. Ed and Paul finish last week's conversation on the secularization of Christmas and Easter.
Also discussed are how the attacks against Christmas are actually attacks against Western Civilization itself.
After finishing the call with Paul, Dr. Ed calls Dr. Matthew Raphael Johnson.
Dr. Johnson, a Priest in the Russian Orthodox Church, talks about traditions common to Orthodox Christians.
The conversation with Dr. Johnson begins with why Orthodox Christmas is celebrated on January 7th as opposed to December 25th. How the Gregorian calendar was adopted and why many Orthodox churches have remained on the old calendar.
Many Orthodox have resolved the date conflict by celebrating a "Santa Christmas" on December 25 and a liturgical Christmas in January.
Dr. Johnson even tells our listeners how he successfully prevents his cats from climbing and destroying the Christmas tree.
Launched in January of 2018 as The Dixie Heritage Hour and reformatted in January 2020 as the half-hour Dixie Heritage Show, Dr. Ed's weekly podcasts are usually pre-recoded. Shows are broadcast nationally on TBR Radio, and globally on You-Tube.
